Street Genius 2009

would you believe it... its all come to and end. fin left on monday... went Ireland with his family. his last day was jokes... we found out a lot about him lol. today was da easiest just finished of our audio stuff.

Today is our LAST DAYY!!! it is very emotional because we have to leave behind not only the museum but the times we shared in it even though sometimes it was hard (research wise) we still got through it because we had eachother! this week it was more focusing on our text and getting it recorded on to the actual tape and playing it back to see how it sounds. we picked 1 version that we thought was best and what we wanted to be in the actual Lord Ashcroft gallery. so that was us fr the week but yet again this has been an overwhelming experience and we just cant wait for the launch, but thats not us done we well be back!!! :D ByYeE for noww

Today is our Final Day as Street Genius'. Im soooo sad to be leaving IWM. This week has been really fun. We recorded our final audio recording which was really exciting. Between all 4 of us it took 127 tracks (typical). When we were practising reading our stories everything went well and it sounded good, but as soon as we started recording, it all went wrong. Im gonna miss this place sooooo very much. I LOVE every1 @ IWM. MWAH xXxXxXxXx

we just did our interviews in front of the camara and now we jus finished editing our write ups ready for next week!!!

this week was intense and we had to concentrate very hard because it was editing week!! we had to edit our final draft and correct areas made and also add in what we missed out, however it was quite fun to because we got to play around and learn how to use the audio guides... so as per usual we got the work dne and had fun absouloutley love it!!!xxxxxXXXXXxxxxxx

we went over what we worte, practicing reading it. Learned how to use the audio equipment. Did our interviews... well me shaq,fin, lauren maia. the rest are doing theirs next week. we spent today editing and rewriting our work.

This week we have just been editing our final drafts for our audio tape. We have been timing ourselves over and over again as i target time is 15minutes. Ive read my work so much that i no Johnson Beharry's script of by heart (love Johnson ;)). We came up with a little song aswell..... "Geldhill can't dance like me, Johnson can't dance like me"...... Its been quite chilled this week but ive enjoyed myself. Recording our final audio next week !!!!

This week we finished off writing our final drafts of our audio. We've just been reading our drafts over and over and over again. This week i have discovered a love for Johnson Beharry. He is the besttttttt!

You are currently inspired by this week was the harder week because this is were all the writing and research comes in: this week weve basically been, researching our personal peoples storys and doin a draft we did that for the wed n tue and then on thurs we did our finall draft to meet our criterias i.e each section being 2mins each overall being 4min, however i did enjoy this week even though it required us working under pressure to meet deadlines but as always i enjoyed it!.XXx

this week week we typed up our final write ups. and read them in the group in the order we are going to be goin in. it sounded great, though i think ade should either read faster or get rid of some text looool either then that it has been a really productive week :D

this week alot of research was done on V.C and G.C medals. We did deeper research on our chosen recipients. the subjects i am doing is aggression and skill. Major Edward Mannock and Sepoy Kamal Ram court my eye for aggression. Lieutenant Robert Davies and Lieutenant William leefe Robinson I used for skill. We did mood boards today. am out, peace!!!

this week has been excellent and fun, on tuesday and wednesday we did research on vc and gc.wednesday research was much more intence simply because we had to focus on our percific person who were studying, today (thursday) we did our mood board for our audio tape. although we are not going to have visual information we done it to benifit ourselves to give us ideas and a brief reminder of what we would be talking about. it was very fun and intresting...cant wait till next week to break our next challenge!!!!!.xxxxxxx

This weeks been really Fun. On Tuesday and Wednesday we done some research on the VC's and GC's we had chosen. I chose Johnson Beharry who's in Initiative and Doreen Ashburnham & Jack Cornwell in Endurance. I was fascinated by what i researched on them. I really enjoyed the first chapter of Johnsons book aswell (well good!). Today was our design day. We meet with Becky in the morning and spent the rest of the day designing a mood board which represents what our audio recordings are going to be about. This week we did quite alot of research on our chosen V.C and G.C veterans so we can get ready for our audio in a few weeks. Today we looked at design ideas and also created mood boards seperately but we are gonna put all our ideas together and se what we can come up with. hol tite u man lol

the good times are back. first week back at the museum and it feels like business as usual, especially today. back to the research but we do need to know what we are talking about. Rachel keeps reminding us we are the old street geniuses. This time round we are going to be working on the Lord Ashcroft gallery. looking forward to the rest of the summer. come on den, bring it on, lets av it

i hav been really intrested in this new exhibition about the victoria and george crosses and the stories behind them to how they got them. i think its gna be and exciting few weeks.

Our first week back @ IWM Street Genius (good times). This summer our project is based on The Lord Ashcroft Gallery. We have been researching all the VC's in the Gallery as we are going to create a audio tape for teens who are interested in visiting the gallery in October. All the stories are really interesting and im looking forward to finding out more about many of the recipients. It feels good to be back :) ***STREET GENIUS' BACK IN THE BUILDING!!

1939: Britain Breaks Out will launch this Saturday 19th September at Imperial War Museum London. We'll be having a small launch party in the Conference Room from 1pm and all Street Genius fans are very welcome to join us for a slice of pizza and be one of the first people to see the exhibition!

Wow! this summer project has just zoomed by and it was just as excited as last year and we had just as much fun. It was so good to get the chance to meet and work with four amazging young people who are smart, funny and destin for great things . I wish them all the best with their lanuch date and hope it all goes well. i hope i was help to them and see them in the future!!!!!!!

we got our photo taken on tuesday which was cool we got to take a couple silly pics at the end. On wenday we followed up on the calls we made to librarys around south and lambeth. today we got to see the blue print of our exhibit which looks very good.

Im so sad that this week is our final week on the IWM Street Genius Project. Im going to miss EVERYONE so much. Ive had a fabulous time and can't wait to come back to see everyone again. This week has been really fun. On tuesday we had our photo shot with greg. Ade was being a right Diva as he complained about every photograph we took, lol. Wednesday was quite chilled, we just continued to call around places to display our exhibition. Im really excited as so much people seemed to be interested in the exhibition. This week is our final week which is very upseting, simply because i am not looking forward to leaving, however i am looking forward to seeing our final design, we saw abit of it this morning and it was comming along brilliantly! yesterday and the day before we was phoning around libarys, and community centres to ask them if they will like to put our exhibition in their centres/ libarys this was quite successful. but these last couple of weeks have been TIRING, FUN,EXCITING and BRILLIANT so i and i hope you to is looking forward to th 19th!!!!!!!

this week on mondy we got back are texts which was being looked over by james and sarah we had to cut down alot of our work which wasn't a good part of the week 4 me. we had a meetin today with becky the designer for the final plans for our exhibit.

This week went well but it was also tiring. on tuesday we was just re writing our text because James and Sarah marked them and sent them back, then on wednesday we done some photography and final picking of pictures, and today we had a meeting with Becky which went well

This week has been an important week for us, in making our exhibition. We have been deciding which pictures and posters we wanted to put on our exhibition and we have now handed in our FINAL text. Also today was i last session with becky on the design (fingers crossed).

We got more than enough work done this week and we finally got our title for the exhibit, after a couple years. this time last week we did not have a blues clue where we were goin with this but now we got our design done, most our text done and we really know what direction we won’t to go so i guess the hard work pay off. just hoping next week aint as hard as this 1. we did alot still. i'am enjoying the experience

This week we made a decision on which person is going to be focusing on which text i.e i have taken the lead up to war and wrote a brief sum up of what happened then etc...we also made our final mood board to show how we wanted our exhibition to look. i think that was quit successful simply because everyone had some form of input and everyon liked it. Today is Thursday and its our last day of the week i think this week went well today we had a meeting becky which went well because she liked what we presented to her(mooodboard) and liked our ides... everyday im looking forward to our exhibition and finding a great intrest in history!

This week we decided on what topics we are going to write on. I chose Evacuation and Gas Masks, Quiana chose The Declaration of War, Fin chose Civil Defence and Ade chose Recruitment and The Blackout. We also had to come up with a name for our Exhibition but ill kept that secret for now... We have all completed our text and have now handed it in the be checked and proofed. When we get our text back next week we will have to edit it. I have really enjoyed writing the text for our Exhibition as i have learnt alot more about my topics and i really feel like i know how it was like in 1939.

in these three days we have been doing research, on tuesday it was a quite tough day because we had to read through books and photocopy the pages which we thought was useful. in the afternoon we started on our mood boards which was a quite fun an exciting way to end the day. on wednesday we did the same thing i personally think that this week has given us much more knowledge on the second world war and the importance of it... it has given us a wider range of ideas to choose from and there for is going to make our exhibition better in many ways!

This week we have been researching 1939 Outbreak in more detail. We have been looking up pictures, documents, films etc to find out as much as we can on The Outbreak period. We have been searching the IWM collections site for relevent Art work and exhibits to use in our exhibition. I have really enjoyed researching this week as it has given me a chance to really get to know the period of 1939 and i have gain further understanding of the topic. We also started our Mood Boards this week. This was fun as it gave us all a chance to be creative. I think we all have much different and relevent ideas now we have done more research and will be sharing them Becky Hunter next Thursday :-)

Today draws to an end the first week of Street Genius 2009. Quiana, Lauren, Fin and Ade have been thoroughly introduced to the Museum and the outbreak of war in 1939. The week has included meeting the Director-General of the Museum, Di Lees, and being shown round the large exhibits gallery by James Taylor, Head of Research and Information. James also showed us round the new Outbreak exhibition (still under construction) while Senior Designer Alison Brown talked us through designing the exhibition. We also met Garry Holman, Operations Manager who knows the Museum inside out, and had our first design meeting with Becky Hunter, who set us the challenge of creating a design brief and mood board. Another highlight of the week was being shown actual objects from 1939 by Katie Potter who explained the stories behind the artefacts. Next week we start researching stories for our exhibition- come back to find out more!
